Cinnamon Vanilla Sauce for fresh fruit or bread pudding

1/2 c granulated sugar
2 Tbs cornstarch
2 cinnamon sticks
1 can 12 oz evaporated milk
1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
6 c assorted cut pieces fresh fruit


Combine sugar, cornstarch, and cinnamon sticks in a med saucepan. Gradually stir in milk.

Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, just until mixture comes to a boil and thickens slightly.

Remove from heat. REmove the cinnamon sticks and discard. Stir in the vanilla.

Place mixture in the refrigerator for 2 hours or until well chilled.

Drizzle sauce over fresh fruit (or bread pudding) just prior to serving.
