Difficulty: Easy - for beginners
1 2/3 sleeves (a little over 50) saltine crackers
1 c. butter
1 c. brown sugar
1/4 tsp. baking soda
12 oz. semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 c. chopped pecans
Line a large cookie sheet with foil, spray with Crisco or lightly grease with veg. oil. Lay saltine crackers to cover cookie sheet, salted side down. Melt butter over medium heat, add brown sugar. Bring to boil and boil for ONLY 1 minute. Be careful not to let it go longer or it will burn. Remove from heat and add baking soda. Pour mixture over crackers and spread with a spatula so all are covered. Bake for 10 minutes at 375° F. Remove from oven and sprinkle with chocolate chips. Spread to cover crackers. Sprinkle with chopped pecans. Score bars. Let cool til chocolate hardens.
