Strawberry Shortcake

The Cake
2 eggs
1 cup sugar
1 cup flour
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 tablespoon butter
1/2 cup milk, hot
butter, melted (to brush top of cake)

2-3 cups of fresh strawberries sliced
1/2 cup sugar

Fresh whipping cream


Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Beat eggs until light and thick.

Slowly add sugar and beat 2 1/2 minutes.

Fold in sifted dry ingredients.

Melt butter in hot milk and stir into batter.

Pour batter into a 9 x 13 pan sprayed with cooking spray or greased with butter.

Bake for 30 minute or until light golden brown on top.

Brush top with melted butter. Cool the cake completely.


Put your sliced strawberries in a bowl and gently stir in the sugar.
Let sit at least half hour before using. The sugar brings out the juices in the strawberries

Make up your whipping cream
To assemble

Cut the cake into serving size portions
Put a nice layer of whipping cream on each piece
Spoon your strawberries on and serve.
