Dietary guidance: v d
1 sm or med onion (to your taste) chopped
2 to 4 cloves garlic (to your taste) minced
2 tbsp olive oil
28 oz can whole tomatoes
1/2 tsp salt (1 use kosher salt)
1 tbsp Italian Herb Seasoning (I use Clubhouse's one step Italiano seasoning) ( you could also had herbs of your choice instead like a little Oregano Basil etc)
-Brown chopped onion in the olive oil until soft and golden in a med to lrg saucepan. Then add minced onion the last minute of browning so you don't burn the garlic.
-Add the remaining ingredients ( tomatoes chopped and all the juice) to the onion garlic mixture.
-Simmer uncovered stirring occasionally for 45 mins.
- Purée to a smooth sauce in the pan with a handheld submerge blender ( or transfer to a reg blender in 2 batches)
- Cool. Can be used right away, refrigerated sealed for a week or froze 6 months.
*Make pizza from scratch quite often for my family dough and all so came up with a sauce I could make myself instead of buying canned pizza sauce or using tomato sauce :)
