- 1 Can Kidney Beans, Rinsed and Drained (I also use Black Beans sometimes) you can use any type of bean you like pinto, cannellini, black...
1/2 Cup Regular Oats, Dry
1/2 Cup Cooked Brown Rice
2 TB Canned Tomatoes (you can use catsup, salsa, BBQ sauce, steak sauce if you prefer) as long as it if fat free.
Spice of choice (chile powder, cumin, curry, pepper, red pepper flakes, Old Bay...whatever you like)
Mash Kidney Beans by hand. Mix together all other ingredients. Divide into 4 or 5 equal size portions. Shape into patties. Let set in refrigerator. Grill on each side till golden brown. I cook them on a griddle with no oil. They hold together beautifully. I don't even let them set for long before I cook them. Serve on a whole grain bun with you favorite fixins or with no bun at all. I cook these usually without letting them set first with no problems.
