Orange Pinwheels

Ingredients

SYRUP
1 cup orange juice
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
2 tablespoon butter
2 teaspoon grated orange peel

BISCUITS
4 cups flour
2 teaspoon baking powder
12 tablespoons butter
1 3/4 cup milk
4 tablespoons brown sugar, packed
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Method

SYRUP
Combine all ingredients in a small saucepan. Heat and stir until butter is melted. Pour half in each of two 9x9 inch pans.

BISCUITS:
Put flour and baking powder into a large bowl. Cut margarine until crumbly. Make a well in the center.Pour milk into well. Stir until moistened and mixture forms a ball of dough. Turn out onto lightly floured surface. Knead 6 times. Roll out onto lightly floured surface. Knead 6 times. Split dough in half. Roll out each half into 9 x 26 inch rectangle. Combine brown sugar and cinnamon in small cup. Sprinkle over dough. Roll eachup, jelly-roll style, beginning at long end. Cut each roll into sixteen 1 inch thick place slices. Place slices on top of syrup. Bake at 425 degrees F for 25 minuts until lightly browned. Invert onto serving plate.
