1/2 cup warm water
1 teaspoon sugar
1 envelope (1/4 ounce) active dry yeast
2 cups warm water
1/4 cup cooking oil
1 envelope (1 1/4 ounce) dry onion soup
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese
6 1/4 cups flour
2 teaspoons butter, softened


Stir first amount of water and sugar in small bowl until sugar is dissolved. Sprinkle yeast over top. Let stand for 10 minutes. Stir to dissolve yeast. Mix next 5 ingredients in a large bowl. Add yeast mixture. Beat until smooth. Gradually add flour until dough pulls away from sides. Turn out onto lightly floured surface. Knead for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place in greased bowl, turning once to grease top. Cover with tea towel. Place in oven with light on and door closed for about 1 1/2 hours until doubled. Punch down. Divide into two portions. Place each into a 9x5x3 inch loaf pan. cover with tea towl. Place in oven with light on and door closed for about 45 to 50 minutes until doubled. Bake at 375 degree F for 20 minutes until lightly brown. Turn out on wire rack. Brush top with margarine.
