Dark Popcorn Balls

Difficulty: Difficult - for experienced cooks


12 cups popped popcorn
1 cup candy-coated chocolate candy
2 cups peanuts
1 cup butter, melted
2 cups brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup mild molasses
1/2 cup milk
1/2 teaspoon baking soda


In large bowl, Combine first four ingredients. In large heavy saucepan, combine next 3 ingredients. Heat, stirring constantly, until brown sugar is dissolved and mixture starts to boil. Boil for about 3 1/2 minutes until reacehs hard ball stage. Remove from heat. Stir in baking soda. Pour over popcorn mixture. Toss until well coated. When cool enough to handle, shape into 2 1/2 inch balls, using lightly greased hands.
