Cheese and Nut Stuffed Bread Slices

Difficulty: Easy - for beginners


1 loaf French bread (about 16 inches long)
11 ounces cream cheese, softened
4 tablespoons butter, softened
1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
1 envelop dry vegetable soup mix
½ cup chopped walnuts


Trim ends of bread, then cut bread crosswise into 4 pieces. Hollow out center of each piece, leaving ½-inch shell. Reserve shells and save bread for crumbs. In large mixing bowl, combine cream cheese with butter until smooth. Add Cheddar cheese, soup mix and walnuts. Process until blended. Pack into reserved shells. Wrap in plastic wrap or wax paper, then chill at least 4 hours. Cut into ½ inch slices.
