Best ever pie crust

This pie crust can be used for any pie, sweet or savoury. Double the quantity for a double-crust pie.

Ingredients

2 cups chilled all purpose flour
1/2 stick unsalted butter, cut into small cubes
1/4 cup shortening
1 tsp sugar
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 cup chilled unflavoured vodka

Method

Combine flour, sugar and salt in the bowl of a food processor. Add butter and shortening and pulse until mixture resembles damp sand. Transfer to a mixing bowl and add vodka, 1 tbsp. at a time, until dough just holds together. Form dough into a ball, flatten into a disk, wrap in plastic wrap and chill for at least an hour. Roll out crust, transfer to a pie dish and use according to pie recipe instructions.
