Cooking time: 2 1/2 hours
Difficulty: Easy - for beginners
Dietary guidance: v
16 cups of freshly grated potatoes, (no squeezing out the water)
1/2 cup of vegetable oil
5 eggs (* might not be used for some vegetarians)
2- 1/2 cups of bread crumbs (whiz some bread slices in your food processor and measure out 2-1/2 cup-don't use dry bread crumbs from a box)
1 1/2 Tbsp salt
1/4 to 1/2 tsp pepper
Mix everything together in a big bowl, grease pans well with margarine or butter or vegetable oil, (I use TWO 12x6x2 stainless steel pans... ) Pour mixture and cook at 375 for approximately 2 hours to 2 1/2 hours. Would make 12 very big and thick pieces...
*if you don't use the eggs, I can't guarantee the results.... It might work well too, I never tried it without:)
Optional-You can also put some more oil on top halfway through baking if you want...but I didn't....
Be sure to generously grease your pans before pouring in the mixture...I greased mine with butter:)
