Chocolate Frosting

Family favorite since 1983. Chocolate icing that goes well on a yellow cake. Covers the top of a 9 inch round.

1/4 cup softened butter
1/2 cup cocoa powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/3 cup milk
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
3 1/2 cup powdered sugar


Using a mixer combine butter, cocoa and salt. Blend in milk and vanilla. In three parts mix in the powdered sugar until smooth and creamy. To thicken add more powdered sugar.

Use 1 1/2 batch for a 9X13 pan.

Shortening can replace butter.
