Fake Risotto

For a savoury rice with a slight difference, and for those who can't afford the fancies of proper risotto rice and saffro.
I don't give measurements here, that's up to you to decide.

Preparation time:
Cooking time: 20-40m

Serves: depends on portion


Basmati rice
pinch of salt
1-2 tsp tumeric
splash of olive oil


Bring a large saucepan of water to the boil and pour in the quantity of rice desired. Add in the salt and tumeric and leave to boil until you can spoon the rice out of the pan. Rice should be soft and orange.
If the water starts to boil over during cooking add a splash of olive oil, this should temper the bubbling.
