1/2 cup margarine
1/2 cup flour
3 1/2 cups boiling water
2 tablespoons tamari or soy sauce
1 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
Dash of hot sauce, if desired
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1 cup nutritional yeast
1 pound bag of macaroni, cooked according to the package
1 pound pack of fake hamburger, browned
Melt the margine in a large saucepan over medium-high heat. Add the flour and mix constantly until a roux forms ( the margarine and flour mixture will get frothy). Don't let it burn! Whisk in the boiling water, tamari, garlic powder, hot sauce, and turmeric. Beat well to dissolve the flour. Cook until the sauce thickens, then stir in the nutritional yeast.
Mix the noodles, fake hamburger, and half of the sauce, then transfer it to a casserole dish. Pour the remaining sauce over it, and sprinkle the top with paprika.
Bake for 15 minutes at 350 degrees F.
