Killiecrankie Mince Scallops

4 medium onions, sliced
1 T. butter
1 lb. round or chuck steak (chopped) OR I substitute ground turkey
1 t. salt
1/4 t. black pepper
1/4 t. allspice
1 cup bouillon
1/4 c. barley
1 bay leaf


Saute onions in butter in heavy aluminum or iron pan. Put in chopped meat and brown slightly, stirring to prevent lumps. When pink of meat has disappeared, add salt, pepper, and allspice. Heat bouillon and add, then barley and bay leaf. Cover and simmer 1 hr. Take out bay leaf and serve.
