Cowboy Cookies

Everybody in my family makes this with the same recipe, and everyone's cookies turn out remarkably different, and remarkably good. The only explanation I can find is that they must be magic cookies.

Preparation time: 15 minutes
Cooking time: 8 - 12 minutes

Serves: 5 dozen cookies

Dietary guidance: v

1 cup sugar
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup margarine
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups white flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
2 cups oatmeal
Optional: chocolate chips, raisins, craisins, or butterscotch chips are all common additions.

Mix together sugar, brown sugar, and margarine. Add eggs and vanilla. Sift together flour, baking soda, and baking powder, and add. Then add oatmeal. Afterwards is really up to you. Add any or all of the optional additions, or anything else that sounds good to you. I usually do 2 to 3 cups of chocolate chips, my aunt typically does raisins and a handful of chocolate chips, and my cousin adds a lot of butterscotch chips and golden rasins. So seriously, just add as you see fit. This makes the cookies unique and extra yummy. *grin*

Bake for 8 to 12 minutes at 350 degrees.
