Dot's Jambalaya

This is not a traditional Jambalaya. It is, however, the recipe my family grew up with, so I tend to regard it as the only *true* jamabalaya ;) The recipe was given to my Grandma Sidell by her next door neighbour, as a young bride in Mobile.

Cooking time: 0:30

Serves: 4


6 slices bacon, cut up
1 cup ham, diced
â…” cup celery, chopped
½ cup onion, chopped
½ cup green pepper, chopped
1 can tomato soup
2 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
2 tablespoon ketchup
½ cup water
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon celery salt
1 lb. shrimp


Sautée bacon.

Add ham, celery, onion & green pepper. Sautée again.

Add everything except for the shrimp, and simmer 10 minutes.

Add shrimp, and simmer another 20 minutes.

Serve over hot rice.
