Alyssa's Cornbread and Chili

My little sister makes this all the time, and it's delicious-isimus.

Ingredients

Cornbread:
1 cup all purpose flour
3/4 cup cornmeal
2 to 3 tablespoons sugar
2-1/2 teaspoons baking powder
3/4 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon butter
2 eggs, beaten
1 cup milk
1/4 cup cooking oil

Chili:
1/2 pound ground beef
1/4 of an onion, chopped
1 to 2 garlic cloves, minced
1 cup tomatoes, cut up
1 cup dark red kidney beans, drained
1 cup canned tomato sauce
2 teaspoons chili powder
1/2 teaspoon cumin
1/4 teaspoon pepper
2 teaspoons unsweetened cocoa powder

Method

Cornbread:

In a medium bowl stir together flour, cornmeal, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.

In a small mixing bowl combne eggs, milk, and oil. Add egg mixture all at once to flour mixture. Stir just until moistened. Set aside.

Add the 1-tablespoon of butter to bottom of baking pan. Place in 400 degree oven about 3 minutes or until butter is melted. Remove pan from oven; swirl butter in pan to coat bottom and sides of pan. Pour batter into hot pan and bake for 15 to 20 minutes (Alyssa wrote in the margins, exactly 18 mins.) or until toothpick inserted near the centre comes out clean, Serve warm.

Chili:

In a large saucepan cook ground beef, onion, and garlic until meat is brown. Drain fat. Stir in undrained tomatoes, kidney beans, tomato sauce, chili powder, cumin, pepper, and cocoa. Bring to a boil; reduce heat, cover and simmer for 20 minutes.
