Classic Tomato Sauce

Tomato sauce that uses red wine

Serves: 700ml jar of sauce

-2 Tablespoons Olive Oil
-1 Onion Chopped
-4 Tablespoons of tomato paste
-1 Teaspoon of paprika
-4 cups of chopped skinned tomatoes - you can use 2 14oz cans of tomatoes if you don't want to skin your own
-Fresh or dried Oregano to taste
-1 and 1/4 cups of dry red wine. - I use Shiraz or Merlot
A large pinch of sugar
salt and pepper to taste


Heat oil in Large frying pan (I use my Wok)and fry onions for 10 mins until softened. Add the tomato paste and paprika and cook for 3 more mins

Add the rest of the ingredients and bring to boil. (I like to add other spices and garlic at this point too)

Simmer for 20 mins or until sauce has reduced to desired thickness. Enjoy!

Freezes very well.
