sri lankan dhal (lentils)

3oz of red split lentils
1 small onion
2 cloves of garlic
7 curry leaves
1 fresh chilli
1tsp of chilli
1tsp of tumeric
1tsp curry powder
1tsp of salt
1tsp of maldive fish (optional)
3tsp of coconut milk powder


Cover lentils with with water plus half an inch. Chop onion and garlic put in with lentils. Add curry leaves and all spices plus coconut milk powder. Stir it all in and cook till tender. I like my dhal not too sloppy if it gets too dry just add a little water. This curry is quite hot can be eaten with rice or bread.
