Cooking time: 25 minutes
2 cup pasta (any will do... I like Tagliatelle)
1 package frozen broccoli or 500 g fresh
2 Tbsp butter or margarine
2 Tbsp flour
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp prepared mustard
1/4 tsp black pepper
2 cups milk
1 cup grated sharp cheddar
2 cups chopped cooked chicken
1/2 glass white wine (optional)
1/2 cup breadcrumbs (optional)
Extra cheese for topping (optional)
Cook pasta and broccoli as directed on packages (separately), drain.
Melt butter in saucepan and blend in flour, salt, mustard, pepper and milk. Cook, stirring constantly, until thickened. Add wine and reduce for 2 minutes. Remove from heat and add cheese, stirring until melted.
Arrange pasta, broccoli and chicken in a casserole dish and pour cheese sauce over all. Sprinkle breadcrumbs and extra cheese if desired.
Bake at 180 C or 350 F for 25 minutes or until bubbling.
