Enough steak - rump or eye fillet for 4 people
1 roughly chopped onion
11/2 cups dashi
5 tbsp tamari
3 tbsp mirin
2 tbsp sugar
1 tsp sake
eggs (optional)
Japanese rice
Cook the rice. Fry the steak how you like it (rare of course) and the onion. Make the sauce in a bowl, I like to warm it a bit. Put the beef and onion on the hot cooked rice and pour sauce over. If you want a real protein hit, fry an egg and pop it on top.
