Cooking time: 5 min
Dietary guidance: v
16 oz peanut butter
1 cup corn syrup (light)
1 cup sugar
6 cups corn flakes (or rice krispies)
makes 76-100 balls
cocoa mix or melting chocolate
Put the 6 cups of corn flakes into a large bowl. You can use rice krispies too, but I have only ever made it with corn flakes.
Take a saucepan (maybe like 1 or 2 qt nothing big) Something you make cranberry sauce or rice krispie treats in)
Put the sugar and corn syrup in saucepan and mix well. Bring to a boil stirring constantly. Do not let boil long (at max 3 min) Otherwise, balls will be hard since that would caramelize the sugar. (unless you want that- some do).
Remove from heat. Add peanut butter, mix very well.
Pour all of the concotion over the corn flakes, get as much as you can out of saucepan.
Get a small bowl of water and a large cookie sheet or something to spread the balls out. Dip hands into water and start rolling mixture into one inch balls (or anything around that, doesn't have to be exact).
The water helps with the rolling so it doesn't stick to your hands, continue wetting hands as needed.
If you fill up your cookie tray, use another. Let cool. Once cool, feel free to put the balls in a bowl. Failure to wait for balls to cool before putting them intogether will basically just make them go back into one giant mess.
If you would like you can cover the balls with either hot cocoa mix, or dip them in melting chocolate. If you don't have melting chocolate, you can melt semi-sweet morsels with a teaspoon of crisco (sounds gross but it works and tastes great).
