Red Beans and Rice in a Rice Cooker
Easy - for beginners


This Red Beans and Rice is a great way to use your rice cooker, and gluten free too!


  • 2 cups rice
  • 1 can kidney beans (or dried beans soaked, drained and rinsed)
  • 6 cups water or vegetable stock
  • olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 1/2 onion chopped
  • chopped celery, optional
  • 2 tsp paprika
  • salt or seaweed
  • pepper
  • bay leaf, optional
  • thyme, optional
  • sage, optional
  • parsley, optional


Sautee garlic, onion and celery in olive oil in a skillet. Add to rice cooker with all other ingredients. Cook in rice cooker until done
