Simple Slow Cooker Butter Chicken Recipe
Cooking time: high 4-6 hours, low 6-8 hours Easy - for beginners Serves: 4


This is a really simple slow cooker butter chicken that tastes amazing.


  • 4-6 boneless chicken thighs cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 onion diced
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 2 tsp curry powder
  • 1 tbsp curry paste
  • 2 tsp tandoori masala* internat’l aisle
  • 1 tsp garam masala* internat’l aisle
  • 1 can coconut milk
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 1 5.5 fl oz can of tomato paste
  • Salt to taste


Stir fry chicken, onion and garlic in frying pan on medium heat until the chicken has some color and the onion is translucent. Then pour entire contents of pan into the crock pot.

Then add all ingredients together in the slow cooker. Cook high 4-6 hours, cook low for 6-8 hours

Note You can cheat and buy Sharwood’s Tikka Masala sauce and marinade it with chicken breasts in the slow cooker on low. It tastes the same, a bit easier, but not as much fun!
